The Orange County Museum of Art’s (OCMA) new 53,000-square-foot home on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus, designed by Morphosis under the direction of Pritzker-Prize winning architect Thom Mayne, will open October 8.
Join the 24-hour opening event from 5pm Saturday, October 8 through 5pm Sunday, October 9.
The design of the new museum is highlighted by a distinctive façade of light-colored, undulating bands of terracotta paneling, and includes a spacious roof terrace for exhibitions and events, a day-lit performance and education hall, and a grand outdoor stair and outdoor plaza. The museum’s entry is designed to “create dialogue” with Richard Serra’s monumental Connector sculpture, according to the architects.
For 24-hours the museum will be open and activated with music, food, films, yoga, dancing, and more. Free and open to the public, no tickets or rsvp required. Bring Friends, Bring Family, Bring a Neighbor!
