South Coast Plaza: The Center of Art and Culture in Orange County

From popular Broadway musicals like Six, Wicked and Hamilton, to cutting-edge new plays and world premiere ballets, art and culture in Orange County is centered around South Coast Plaza, drawing fans and aficionados from near and far.

Built on land donated by the owners of South Coast Plaza, Segerstrom Center for the Arts features more than 6,400 seats in seven concert halls, theaters and studios. The art and culture campus across the street from South Coast Plaza includes Tony Award-winning South Coast Repertory Theater, the grand Segerstrom Hall and the stunning Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Near a soaring Richard Serra sculpture on the arts campus is the new home for Orange County Museum of Art that opened in October 2022. The debut of an architecturally stunning visual arts museum on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus completes the Segerstrom family’s vision for an expansive and inclusive center of art, culture, and commerce, which has long been part of the grand design for greater South Coast Plaza.

Nearby is California Scenario, an internationally recognized sculpture garden commissioned by South Coast Plaza ownership. Pedestrian-friendly plazas, parks and bridges link it all together, with major works by well-regarded sculptors interspersed everywhere.

An art and culture complex of this sophistication and diversity is unique in Southern California, and it’s a key part of the South Coast Plaza visitor experience.
