SOUTH COAST PLAZA CELEBRATES THE YEAR OF THE TIGER

JANUARY 27 – FEBRUARY 20, 2022

Costa Mesa, Calif. (January 2022) – South Coast Plaza ushers in Lunar New Year Jan. 27-Feb. 20, 2022 with a celebration filled with special gifts, merchandise and menus, a spectacular and interactive Year of the Tiger display, and much more. Now in its 12th year, South Coast Plaza’s 25-day Lunar New Year festivities are the most extensive and largest of any retail center on the West Coast, drawing visitors from all over California.

“From limited-edition products from our boutiques and special dishes at our restaurants to our spectacular botanical centerpiece and activities, South Coast Plaza is a must-visit destination for Lunar New Year,” said Debra Gunn Downing, spokeswoman for South Coast Plaza.

Shoppers will have many opportunities to mark the occasion. They can select from Lunar New Year items at many boutiques, receive a gift of a limited-edition vase with a minimum purchase, attend in-store events, enjoy special menus at participating restaurants, enter to win prizes from select boutiques, see specially-designed store displays and windows, among many experiences.

A dramatic Lunar New Year botanical centerpiece will be on display in Jewel Court beginning Jan. 27 as part of an annual tradition at South Coast Plaza. The centerpiece will depict a tiger, the third animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle, symbolizing confidence, courage and strong self-esteem. Decorated with flower and plant parts, the powerful tiger is shown leaping from top of a waterfall across a pond surrounded by gold coins and a lush landscape. A high-definition digital pond displaying an abundance of Koi – which represent good luck and fortune – reflects the water element associated with the tiger this year. Guests can make a wish and toss a digital coin into the pond and receive a commemorative Year of the Tiger pin. Floating above are colorful lanterns and cascading gold coins and ingots representing great fortune and prosperity.
