SCP Security

The Security Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating security, safety, and emergency preparedness operations for all South Coast Plaza and C.J. Segerstrom & Sons properties. This position plays a critical role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, tenants, employees, vendors, and VIP clientele while maintaining the elevated standards and service expectations associated with a luxury retail destination. The Security Manager will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to the security team, establish and enforce security procedures, coordinate emergency response efforts, manage security vendors, and work closely with retail tenants, property management, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a highly professional security leader who combines strong operational expertise with exceptional customer-service skills, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to effectively manage security operations in a sophisticated, high-visibility environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include but are not limited to:
• Lead, supervise, and develop the Plaza retail division security team, ensuring professional performance and adherence to established policies and procedures.
• Manage daily security operations, including patrols, access control, surveillance, incident response, parking/security operations, and property protection.
• Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify security vulnerabilities, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure security officers maintain a highly professional appearance, demeanor, and customer-service standard.
• Serve as one of the primary security points of contact for property management, tenants, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor security trends and proactively implement measures to address emerging threats.
• Maintain a security presence that is visible and reassuring without negatively impacting the upscale atmosphere of the property.
• Ensure security personnel interact with guests, VIPs, retailers, and employees with professionalism, discretion, courtesy, and respect.
• Develop security practices appropriate for a luxury environment, balancing effective security measures with exceptional guest service.
• Support special events, VIP visits, executive appearances, and high-profile retail activities.
• Handle sensitive situations discreetly and professionally to protect the reputation of the property and its tenants.
• Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Review incident reports for accuracy, completeness, and professionalism.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding investigations, incidents, tenant information, and other sensitive matters.
• Lead or coordinate response efforts during significant incidents and provide timely communication to property leadership.
• Ensure security personnel understand emergency procedures, evacuation routes, communication protocols, and incident-command responsibilities.
• Maintain effective relationships with law enforcement and facilitate information sharing regarding criminal
activity affecting the property.
• May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, and remain available to respond to
significant incidents or emergencies outside of normal business hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in public safety, law enforcement, military, or security operations. Minimum of three years of administrative and/or supervisory leadership experience.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical
procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation. Ability to present information effectively to management, clients, customers, and the public.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel

Pay Rate: $78,000 - $80,000 + bonus
