Our Sales Leaders bring this mission to life in the store. She/he is the face of Trudy’s Hallmark to our customers and is vital to the success of our organization. Thrives on engaging with our shoppers to help them find and build the perfect card/gift solutions for the many days and ways in which they care. She/he nurtures relationships and honors traditions. She/he enjoys working with people (both our customers and store team) and is naturally helpful and affirming.

She/he is responsible for providing exemplary selling and customer service to elevate and sustain the productivity and profitability of the store. Our associates provide the customer with product recommendations and solutions by working proactively with them, and serve as role models of best practice retail execution. The overall focus is on sales and service at all times. Sales Leaders have an added leadership role within the store by modeling and coaching selling skills, sharing product knowledge, communicating goals, communicating daily priorities, reading and communicating store and corporate level communications, and managing daily tasks and responsibilities while adjusting to the needs of the business. Inventory management procedures, conducting product sets, stocking, housekeeping and assisting with stockroom duties are accomplished as needed.
Sales Associates work closely with the store team and report directly to the Store Manager.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities
The Sales Lead is responsible for supporting store management in overseeing the operational functioning of the store when a Store Manager is not on the premises – effectively performing “manager on duty” responsibilities. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, driving revenue, proactively overseeing the customer experience, maintaining the expected level of customer service and executing key holder open/close responsibilities per Trudy’s standards. In addition she/he provides support to employees through sharing knowledge and coaching ‘in the moment’ feedback and ensures that the customer remains top priority while balancing required tasks and overall store operations.

Customer Service, Service-focused Selling and Product Knowledge: Delivers the Hallmark brand promise through enthusiasm, exceptional customer service and outstanding store standards. Connects with customers, assists them in finding solutions to meet their needs and builds relationships by providing service-focused selling that engages with customers and products. Shares current promotional events/items and the Crown Rewards Card loyalty program with the customer. Works closely with the Store Manager and the store team to continually improve the customer experience, learn about new products and services, and drive sales.

Operations and Merchandising: Upholds all company policies & practices, including but not limited to store operation procedures outlined in the Trudy’s Hallmark handbook, Trudy’s Links & Documents, and Conditions of Employment. Enthusiastically accepts guidance/coaching from the Store Manager and leadership team. Follows all directives and performs in a consistent manner with regard to sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory management and loss prevention.The Sales Lead has access to store cash and product assets and will be held accountable for maintaining accurate records/deposits. She/he will ring sales and is also required to perform additional point of sale functions; cash management, assists with POSR audits and weekly inventories. Performs all housekeeping duties. Promotes and maintains a safe working and shopping environment. Participates in and leads others in the processing of shipments, replenishment on the sales floor and additional operational tasks based on the needs of the business.

Training and Performance: The Sales Associate will maintain a thorough and on-going knowledge of Hallmark and Allied products, services, systems and store operations through various training programs. Sales Leaders support the Store Manager as they deliver new hire orientation, customer service training and operations training to new employees. They will work closely with the Store Manager to understand new policies, operational changes and/or training initiatives. Participates in new technology implementation and training as requested. Performance will be measured in various ways, including but not limited to, sales reports, customer satisfaction benchmarks, overall store appearance and general attitude and approach to assignments. Feedback on performance may include, but is not limited to, Store Manager, Area/District Manager, Regional Director, Trudy’s office personnel and owners.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (required for candidates to be considered)
One or more years of previous experience in retail, sales or customer service; OR 6 months experience in the Trudy’s Hallmark chain.
Must have reliable transportation
Must be available to open and close the store a minimum of 3 times per week and 2 weekend shifts a month.
Able to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business, including events, some holidays, the day before/after major holidays, evenings and weekends.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to submit verification of legal right to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications (optimal education & work experience)
High school diploma or equivalent.
One or more years of previous experience in (specialty) retail, sales or customer service.
Strong customer-focused engagement and consultative selling skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers & employees.
Demonstrated success working as a member of a team.
Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate.
Desire and ability to learn the business.
Strong sense of urgency, flexibility and willingness to adapt to change.
Proficiency and comfort using a computer and other technology.
Physical Requirements
Ability to continuously stand/walk; frequently push/pull; occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders or head; climb a ladder and carry up to 50 pounds (ie fixture parts and shipment boxes).

Pay Rate: $19
