Spring into the Future with the Season’s Best Sustainably-Made Denim

Some trends linger for seasons, but with denim, they tend to come fierce and fade fast. This spring and summer, it’s all about getting more leg room – full-length straight leg, ultra-wide flares, and barrel jeans.

As you hit refresh on your repertoire, consider those styles in another of-the-moment trend in denim: sustainably produced. At Lafayette 148 New York, sumptuous denim is being woven from responsibly-farmed organic fibers for the KindCotton line. Diesel has constructed new styles from ethically-made cotton and recycled materials. The entire Earth Conscious collection at Joe’s Jeans uses organic and recycled fibers.

Below, a spring-ready selection of the most thoughtfully made denim from our boutiques.

Lafayette 148 New York
Franklin jumpsuit

Destined to become the wear-anywhere workhorse of your spring wardrobe, this relaxed chambray jumpsuit from Lafayette 148 New York features must-have pleats, a tapered leg, and is made of the brand’s Italian KindCotton — woven from sustainably-grown, responsibly-farmed organic cotton fibers.

Ganni
Indigo denim strap dress

The contemporary Danish brand Ganni doubles down on the voluminous denim trend with this versatile midi dress. Rethinking the traditional five-pocket jeans waist as a neckline, the playful piece is part of a collaboration with Levi’s and made from 100% cottonized hemp — which uses less water and pesticides than conventional cotton, and supports healthier soil and cleaner water.

Joe’s Jeans
The Lara jeans

Joe’s
offers a fresh mid-rise and clean straight-leg shape with its Lara cigarette jean — as well as the assurance that the ankle-length pair, part of its Earth Conscious collection, was produced using responsible levels of water and chemicals. It’s featured here in the aptly-named “Ethos” wash.

Diesel
D-Joy jeans

OG denim brand Diesel used a specialized laser technique on this Italian-made pair of semi-distressed jeans, as well as a mix of BCI cotton — per the standards of the Better Cotton Initiative, a forward-thinking non-profit focused on improving conditions for cotton farmers and the sustainability of their products — and recycled polyester.

COS
Flared jeans

Flares in the palest blue are primed to pair with the season’s platform sandals and chunky loafers — and are also made of organic cotton, known to use less water and fewer chemicals than non-organic counterparts.
