IWC

In 1868, a 27-year-old American watchmaking pioneer named Florentine Ariosto Jones founded the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen. With the help of distinguished Swiss watchmakers, modern technology and hydropower sourced from the nearby River Rhine, IWC began manufacturing the highest quality watch movements—a haute horlogerie tradition that endures today.

In celebration of the watchmaker’s 150th anniversary, IWC is displaying two special vintage pieces at their South Coast Plaza boutique. On Saturday, June 9, horophiles can check out the timelessly elegant Portofino (circa 1984) and the peerless Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon from the late 1990s.

Also on display are limited edition novelties: the Portofino Automatic Edition “150 Years,” a jubilee collection edition of the classic and captivating three-hand timepiece; the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII “Laureus Sport For Good Foundation,” a blue-and-black special edition of the Small Pilot; and the pocket watch-inspired Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years,” IWC’s first-ever wristwatch with jumping numerals.

IWC’s current collection, including the special edition Big Pilot’s Watch “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” along with the Portugieser, will be on view at South Coast Plaza as well. Both beloved timepieces are available in Annual Calendar and Perpetual Calendar styles.

Whether from the past or present, these meticulously detailed timepieces look back on a long tradition of innovation and expertise, and allow the wearer to travel through time and watch universes.
