Mikimoto Debuts its First Fragrance
Mikimoto has debuted its very first fragrance, Mikimoto Eau de Parfum. An olfactory expression of the Mikimoto story, this irresistible and unforgettable scent is inspired by the beautiful, natural, and cultural heritage of Japan, as well as the majestic presence of the sea where pearls come from and lush forests. It’s a timeless and gender-neutral fragrance with universal appeal, reminiscent of a piece of pearl jewelry.
Expert fragrance designer Raymond Matts and master perfumer Frank Voelkl came together to create a signature scent inspired by the brand’s sea-inspired identity. This seductive scent of iris and magnolia evokes elegance and extravagance. The top note is a rendition of the subtle smell of the cool sea breeze blended with fresh citrus notes. The middle note is an exquisite floral blend of iris and magnolia, taking its inspiration from pearls — one of the most beautiful gems and a mysterious gift from nature. This scent ends with woody notes laced with the calming softness of saffron, leaving a lasting impression of opulence and luxury.
The bottle, designed by Lance McGregor, emulates the color and luster of pearls to create an uber-minimalist expression of the jewelry brand’s identity — a pearl within its shell.
“Scents evoke an emotional reaction, parallel to the feeling of wearing a treasured piece of pearl jewelry – making this a natural next step for the brand,” said Yasuhiko Hashimoto, Director and Executive Vice President, K. Mikimoto and Co., Ltd., and CEO, Mikimoto (America) Co., Ltd.. “At Mikimoto, every piece of jewelry celebrates the beauty that exists in the smallest details, and Mikimoto Eau de Parfum embodies the brand’s spirit of excellence, The results exude the unmistakable opulence of the Mikimoto brand.”
