“Nihao China” photo exhibition showcase beauty of Yellow River opens in South Coast Plaza

Costa Mesa, Ca, Sept. 28, 2023 /LAPost/ — To celebrate the profound culture of the Yellow River, promote international cultural exchanges, and expand the influence of Chinese civilization, “NIHAO CHINA!” photo exhibition opened on Thursday here at South Coast Plaza as part of celebrations for the Autumn Harvest Festival.
Delegation from the Chinese Consulate, with Consul General Guo Shaochun and Madame Wang Wei, in attendance, VIP guests include distinguished members from the Consulate office, the China National Tourism Office, representatives from the Nixon Library, and local news media.
Consul General Guo delivered the remarks on the photo exhibition and sending wishes for a happy mid-autumn festival.
“This is a collection of photographs featuring the Yellow River drainage area,which spans nine provinces and regions in China.These photos are a genuine record of the natural wonders,cultural heritage,and daily lives of people living along the majestic river.” He said.
He also pointed out: “China has resumed its outbound group tours to the United States. The number of passenger flights between our two countries is gradually on the rise. We are facilitating Chinese visa services. At the same time, we are working together with the American counterparts to make travel between China and US more affordable. We also encourage Chinese tourists to visit the United States and shop here at South Coast Plaza. When we continue to get engaged, I believe, our two peoples will benefit from a deeper mutual understanding and friendship.”
Themed “Explore The Yellow River, Discover Beautiful China”, the exhibition features over 40 photography works that highlight the natural beauty, historical charm, and cultural significance of The Yellow River.
The exhibition is divided into two major sections, including the prologue, the natural Yellow River, the humanistic Yellow River, and the peaceful Yellow River, covering the river’s natural geographical characteristics, hydro-geological changes, historical and cultural inheritance, as well as promotion of revolutionary culture in the Yellow River Basin.
The Yellow River, also known as China’s “Mother River,” is the second largest river in China and one of the longest river systems in the world.
Wendy Hong, a local painting artist who brought her friends to the exhibition, told LAPost that seeing these photos rekindled many of the good memories in China.
“I hope there will be more events like this in the future to bridge both countries through tradition, culture and art. China is truly beautiful, and the Chinese people are very friendly.” Wendy added.
The exhibition, jointly organized by the Consulate General of the P. R. China and China National Tourist Office Los Angeles, runs until Oct. 15.
