“I am very proud to bring the New York Blue Box Café experience to California,” says famed French chef Daniel Boulud, whose restaurants include New York’s Le Pavillon, Café Boulud and Michelin-starred Daniel.

The West Coast’s first Blue Box Café — and the second location in the U.S., following the original New York restaurant that opened on Fifth Avenue in 2017 — is now open inside the recently redesigned Tiffany & Co. at South Coast Plaza.

The dazzling, more than 15,000-square-foot flagship imagined by renowned architect Peter Marino blends the jewelry house’s New York roots with a SoCal aesthetic, boasting museum-worthy artwork by Damien Hirst, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Vik Muniz. Salons showcase Tiffany & Co.’s high jewelry and diamonds as well as rare California gemstones and archival pieces.

Designed in Tiffany’s signature robin’s-egg blue, the whimsical café will include an elegant bar and art installations — enveloping diners in a kaleidoscopic array of Peter Halley artwork and a mirrored ceiling covered in Tiffany & Co.’s signature Blue Boxes.

The cuisine offers a unique West Coast take on Tiffany & Co.’s coveted dining experience. Like the original, the Costa Mesa restaurant will serve a seasonal and locally-inspired all-day menu (which, in New York, includes French-influenced dishes like poached lobster salad, truffle ham and cheese, a cheeseburger and caviar) alongside a breakfast menu and tea service.

The Signature Breakfast at Tiffany’s showcases a selection of breakfast pastries made exclusively for the Blue Box Café, featuring California organic flour from Petaluma County, apricots from the San Joaquin Valley, organic hen eggs from San Diego, seasonal fruits from Corona del Mar and dairy from Sonoma. The tea features freshly baked scones, tea sandwiches and pastries.

Other dishes inspired by California’s fresh produce include Spaghettini au Caviar, Saumon aux Épices, Volaille aux Champignons and Soufflé Glacé aux Framboises.

“Our goal is to make it the premier destination for Breakfast at Tiffany, a light lunch, Afternoon Tea at Tiffany, or an early supper,” Boulud tells Los Angeles. “California offers such extraordinary ingredients, and the Blue Box Café is the perfect daytime destination in Costa Mesa — and a must-visit dining experience in Orange County.”
