FIVE TOP SUMMER ACCESSORIES AND SANDAL TRENDS
Our Guide to the season’s must-have hats, belts, totes, sunnies and sandals
Swimsuit, check. Shorts, check. It’s time to round out your summer 2022 wardrobe with our list of must-have accessories and sandals to wear to places near and far, from backyard pool parties and nights-on-the town to vacations at tropical beaches and cosmopolitan cities.

Because sunny weather is what season is all about, first on the list is a pair of aviators (hello, Top Gun: Maverick).
Next, a woven or braided accent belt – in a single color or a mix of two hues

When it gets hot, keep your cool with a bucket hat and its small-brimmed cousins – still a major look, but this time, with a crocheted and woven body.
You already know that look-at-me color rules this year, so walk with it in bright strappy sandals.
Last, you’ll need a roomy tote to carry all of your summer essentials.

Here, our definitive guide to the season’s top hats, sunglasses, sandals, belts and bags from our boutiques.

LARGE TOTES
This season’s indispensable tote is designed with woven raffia, cotton, linen, jute and other lightweight materials, then trimmed with leather and brass hardware. Beach-inspired medium stripes at Furla, all-over monogram prints at Moynat, bright leather piping on canvas at Mulberry, and understated color-blocking at Hammitt are perfect for pairing with the breezy neutral linen and eyelet dresses of summer.

POP OF COLOR SANDALS
Strappy high-heeled sandals are a summer staple for those warm nights out. This year, they’re in look-at-me hues, including bold shades of ocean- and sky-inspired blue. Pick your bright color and choose from sandal mini-trends: transparent straps at Gianvito Rossi, chain accents at Jimmy Choo, silk scarf wrapping at Christian Louboutin, and iridescent finishes and platform heels at Stuart Weitzman.

BUCKET HATS
Bucket hats and their small-brimmed cousins — cloches — show no signs of fading this summer and are reimagined in materials such as raffia to keep you cool. Miu Miu and Loewe bring on the charm with rainbow-inspired crocheted patterns if your jam is bohemian. Meanwhile, Chloé takes the craftsmanship to a new level, having collaborated with Amambaih, a brand that employs the Maka artisans in Paraguay for woven bucket hats in vibrant hues.

RAFFIA BELTS
Belts have been riding the big comeback wave that’s rolling through the summer. Like bucket hats, they look on point for the season when they’re braided and woven. Details such as the delicate rows of monili embroidery on the leather loop at Brunello Cucinelli, two-tone weaving in black and straw at Zimmermann and Reiss, and the playfulness of the flower buckle at Marni make these belts anything but basic, whether you wear them with a dress or shorts.

SUNGLASSES
Aviators are back on the scene and their onscreen presence on Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly in “Top Gun: Maverick” makes them this year’s ultimate summer shades. Thin metal frames, a double bridge, nose pads and teardrop lenses, are the hallmarks of this style. However, other iterations include more rectangular frames. If you like yours classic, the traditional G-15 green lens can’t be beat. But this summer’s covetable new versions, exemplified by Optica’s Dita and Vitra Eyewear’s SALT, feature gradient and lightly mirrored lenses in hues such as pink and brown. Frames are also reimagined with the infinity-loop bridge by Tom Ford — at House of Sun — and with the Cleamons semi-rimless frame at Oliver Peoples.
