Martin Lawrence Galleries to Showcase the work of world-renowned artist, Erté – the Father of Art Deco

December 01 through December 31, 2018

Season’s Greetings from Martin Lawrence Galleries Costa Mesa. Please join us a month-long holiday celebration of the father of Art Deco – Erté — with exhibition of the paintings, limited edition prints and bronze sculptures.

Erte, the father of Art Deco, was born in 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 1910, he moved to Paris to pursue a career as a designer and secured his first substantial contract with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, and thus launched an illustrious artistic career. Erté designed over 200 covers for Harper’s Bazaar, and his art would also appear in such publications as Illustrated London News, Cosmopolitan, Ladies Home Journal, and Vogue.

“Not only do I do what I want to do, but I do my work in my way and never have been influenced by any other artist.”
– Romaine de Tirtoff  (Erté — initials “R.T.”)
